HYDROMAGNEZITE

Huntit- Hydromagnezite
It is known that huntite-hydromagnezite emerged as a final product as a result of the reaction of magnesite and dolomite with meteoric waters in the 1950s. Huntit; It is a calcium magnesium carbonate mineral and is included in the dolomite group under the carbonates class. Chemical formula; Mg3Ca (CO3) 4. It contains 15.88% CaO, 34.25% MgO and 49.87% CO2. Density; 2.88 g / cm3 and its hardness is 1-2. With the advancement of science, it has been revealed that huntittin is found in some karstic, terrestrial, lacustrine and marine evaporite environments. It is an aqueous magnesium carbonate compound and its chemical formula is; Mg5 (CO3) 4 (OH) 2.4 (H2O). Contains; It contains 43.09% MgO, 19.26% H2O, 37.64% CO2. Mineral; it is colorless or white, fluorescent, acicular, transparent, silky. Its specific gravity varies between 2.16-2.2. Its hardness is 3.5. The most important usage area of huntite ore is its use as flame retardant filling material due to its CO2 content when heated. Decomposition at 220 ° C is endothermic; absorbs heat, reduces flame and surface temperatures. It also dilutes all types of smoke and flammable gases. In addition, it is used as a special binder and adhesive in paints, as a filling hardener in special tires and as a coating material in the paper industry.
